Event Details

The 2008 event kicks off on Friday, December 12 at 9:00 pm and continues on Saturday, December 13 at 3:00 pm. This years’ show will be attended by Blues Foundation/ International Blues Challenge (“IBC”) Executives from Memphis. Featured will be an incredible line-up of IBC and Albert King Award winners and legendary international Blues stars.  Admission for both nights is $75 for reserve seating or $50 for general admission.  Admission for Friday only is $10 at the door. Tickets are available by clicking here, by emailing orders@achristmastocurecancer.org or at Ace In The Hole Music.

Friday night will feature Guitarist, producer and songwriter Steve Gerard (originally from Columbus), & The National Debonaires. Big voiced front man, David “Elmo” Bailey has got to be Kansas City’s best kept secret, with a deep, powerful blues moan that is all his own.  Gerard’s set will also feature Jackson, Mississippi’s legendary guitarist King Edward Antoine.  Also showcased will be Bernie Clarke & The Rhythm Sharks from Syracuse, NY and Columbus’ up and coming youth blues band Double Barrel.

Saturday’s headliner is legendary guitarist Hubert Sumlin, who has been a major influence on rock and roll music as the long-time guitarist for Howlin’ Wolf.  Sumlin appears in Eric Clapton’s “Crossroads” DVD alongside such axe handlers as Jeff Beck and Robert Cray.  Hubert himself is a cancer survivor as is 85-year-old pianist Henry Gray who recorded with seminal Blues architects Jimmy Rogers and the mighty Wolf.

Delmark recording artist Dave Specter is known as one of the most masterful blues guitarists in the world and his set will feature up and coming Chicago Blues harmonica boss, Omar Coleman.

2008 IBC winners Trampled Under Foot hail from Kansas City, led by 2008 Albert King Award winning guitarist Nick Scheleben and is comprised of a trio of siblings all under thirty years old.

Detroit’s queen of the blues Alberta Adams who will be backed by RJ’s Rhythm Rockers, has been in the business for over seventy years and worked with names like T-Bone Walker and is still swinging!

Columbus born and based Sean Carney fronts The Sean Carney Band. The SCB has become an international Blues sensation after winning The 2007 IBC and Albert King Awards. The SCB will be joined by 2005 Albert King Award winner Jonn Richardson and Mr. Hubert Sumlin.

2007 Columbus Blues Challenge winners, The Patrick McLaughlin Band represented The Columbus Blues Alliance at the 2008 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.  Also from Columbus, The Delta Sheiks features veteran Blues brothers Dan and David West.
