Sean Carney’s Blues For A Cure 2019 – Harrison County

MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. presents the Ninth Annual Sean Carney's Blues For A Cure 2019 – Harrison County. A Free Public Concert to be held Saturday, June 29, 2019, starting at 4:00 pm at Sally Buffalo Park, 100 College Way, Cadiz, Ohio with Fireworks display at dusk. The proceeds benefit Harrison Community Hospital Foundation and the Harrison County Cancer Crusaders. Since inception, this annual charity concert event has raised nearly $200,000 for the local area. Blues For A Cure, has raised over $300,000 since Sean Carney started the fund in 2007.
Headlining this year’s event, hailing from Bloomington, Indiana is Sad Sam and Fam Blues Band featuring Sadie Johnson, Bart Walker and Nick Harless. This lineup is a metamorphosis of the original Sad Sam Blues Jam, with Johnson siblings Molly taking over on drums and Grace on Sax. With Sadie and Sam touring and honing their skills since the band formed in 2010, and adding in Sam’s husband Nick Harless, along with Hank Williams Jr.’s touring lead guitarist, 2012 International Blues Challenge “Best Guitarist” and BFAC regular, Bart Walker, the stage will be oozing with talent and energy.
Bringing the Blues from nearby Pittsburgh is the 2017 Pittsburgh Music Awards: Best Blues Band & Best Album for “Lady Of The Blues”, Miss Freddye Stover with her Miss Freddye’s Blues Band. Just last year, Miss Freddye was nominated for two 2018 Blues Music Awards: Best Emerging Artist Album and the Koko Taylor Award (Traditional Blues Female).
BFAC first time band, but long time musical collaborators with Sean Carney, is Cleveland’s Blues Lunch. With an eight-person lineup and full horn section, this band will be sure to have you dancing.
Local favorites the Hoard and Jones Band will round out the musical stylings for the night but don’t leave early and miss out on the fireworks display that will go off around dusk.
This Blues For A Cure concert will serve as the CD Release of Blues Cures 11, the eleventh CD in the series of Live Studio Jams with the artists who've been a part of our concerts in the past decade. Among the artists featured on this release are JP Soars and The Red Hots, Jimmy Thackery and The Drivers, Sean Carney, Dany Franchi, and Miss Freddy’s Blues Band, among others. The CDs will be available as a free gift for a minimum $10 donation.
